  Meet The Members of Take Three

Tom, Guitar and Vocals;

Karen, Vocals and Percusson effects

Kearney, Keyboard, Guitar, and Vocals

  Karen
Karen Piper, who is originally from Rushville, Ohio, has been singing all of her life. She leads the group in providing an interactive show for audiences. Throughout the years she has sung many genres, including American folk tunes to classical but truly enjoys singing pop, movie themes, and current country. After performing in various school groups, Karen’s first real performance experiences came from work with several bands during the late 70’s. However, she left the “performing circuit” to spend time with her family. During those years “off” Karen continued to sing with choruses and established a quartet, which performed throughout Ohio for five years. She has also produced several musical shows and is sensitive for selecting the perfect music to add the right atmosphere to any event. Karen is a graduate of Capital University and currently teaches computer software as an independent consultant. Karen studied choral music with the Director of the Lancaster Chorale and she studied privately with Michelle Horsefield, noted jazz and pop teacher in the Columbus area. She is married and has two daughters. When not singing or working, she enjoys swimming and will sneak a vacation to the beach anytime

  Kearney
Kearney Lykins, keyboardist, guitar, and lead vocal joined Karen and Tom in 2009. Growing up in Blanchester, Ohio, Kearney had the privilege of studying piano at age 12 with Dave Hammer, of Glenn Miller Orchestra fame. Teaching himself to play guitar, by the time he was 16 he was playing for weddings and other events. Kearney went on to study piano performance at McPherson College and the Ohio State University, followed by a quick 23-year stint in the Navy, which afforded him the opportunity to accompany several gospel choirs on ship and shore throughout Europe and the Middle East. He cites Steely Dan, Michael McDonald, Dave Brubeck, and American bluegrass as his strongest musical influences. Kearney holds degrees from Southern Illinois University and the University of Memphis. Kearney is also the accompanist for the Dublin Ohio community chorus, The Dublin Singers, and currently is an instructional designer with EDS/HP. Kearney is married and has four children, all of whom have demonstrated distinctive musical talent. In his free time he loves to fish, play golf, work outside, and watch the Buckeyes.

  Tom
Tom Brown, lead vocals and guitarist became a trio member 2007. Hailing from Lousiville, Ohio there was always music in his home. While growing up he sang with a group at area restaurants and festivals. Tom’s interest in singing continued while serving in the United States Navy, performing with a select group at events. It was during his time at sea that Tom decided to take up the guitar and has been playing ever since. He has had the pleasure to perform with one of his prior groups at Carnegie Hall as well as dabbled in Community Theater and has sung barbershop. He is a graduate of The Ohio State University, currently teaching math and science in the Dublin City Schools. He is able to combine his talents for teaching and music by playing guitar in the classroom and writing musicals for his students to perform. Tom is married and has two sons. When he is not teaching or performing, Tom enjoys playing golf and spending time with his family.
